Gente de Teatro is a non-profit organization and its members “perform”
in many capacities: set designers, marketers, promoters, directors, and
yes, actors. Flexibility, adaptability, hard work, great enthusiasm and
dedication are the common ingredients in all our productions. We are
limited in resources but limitless in our passion and love for the
theater.
The members of Gente de Teatro are:
Claudia Soroka (Managing Director),
Marcela Walter Salas, PhD. (Artistic Director), Sergio Amsel, (Literary
Advisor), Carmen Falla Aramayo (Assistant to the Director), Ana Ilvento
Scuseria (Community Relations Director), Esteban Gago (Technical Director),
and Jorge Zambra (Legal Advisor).
Since 1994 Hamman Hall at Rice University has been our “home”
for the performances. This great facility –that in some ways defines us as
a group- has been generously made available to us by the Department of
Hispanic Studies at Rice University. We could not be where we are without
their support!
Other
institutions and organizations have also been supportive of Gente de
Teatro throughout the years and helped us in making it all possible:
-
Center for the Study of Languages at Rice University
-
Casa Argentina de Houston
-
The Institute of Hispanic Culture
-

-
Fiesta Supermarket
-
Consulate General of Spain in Houston
-
Casa de Espaņa

Our
families and friends, visiting artists, and volunteers, have been a
constant source of great support and motivation for Gente de Teatro.
Our audiences, our loyal followers, have been our inspiration and the
force that keeps our dreams alive!
